Did you know that FSSC 22000 released an interpretation of ISO 22000:2018 and open our eyes that decision tree of HACCP Codex is no longer applicable?
Based on FSSC 22000 interpretation, hazard analysis is consist of two level of assessment. At the first level, which is same as HACCP Codex, is hazard assessment. By considering likelihood and severity of a hazard, we will get how risky the hazard. We may categorize as low, medium, or high. And at the second level, the new one, is the failure assessment of control measure. In this assessment, we need to review the failure likelihood of control measure and its failure consequences. Not stop at this step, the assessment also require to review whether the control measure is measureable or observable, and can be timely detection and timely correction.
The conclusion for this interpretation, the CCP is only defined if the control measure high risk on failure assessment, measurable, timely detection, and also timely correction. Other than that, the control measure will only be OPRP.
